I can’t believe I finally got my hands on the Star Trek. The Movies. 25th Anniversary Collection! As a die-hard Trekkie, this is like a dream come true for me. The set comes with 5 videotapes in a beautiful cloth box, and each tape is individually packaged in a VHS box with its own pin. I mean, how cool is that?
First up, let’s talk about The Motion Picture. This was the beginning of it all and it’s still just as amazing today as it was back in 1991. The special effects might not be up to par with today’s standards, but that’s part of its charm. Plus, seeing Captain Kirk and the crew back in action makes my heart so happy.
The Wrath of Khan is hands down one of my all-time favorite movies from the franchise. The battle between Kirk and Khan is epic and who could forget Spock’s unforgettable sacrifice? It still brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.
The Search for Spock may not get as much love as some of the other films, but it holds a special place in my heart. It’s emotional, action-packed, and we finally get to see the Enterprise destroyed (sorry for the spoiler). And let’s not forget about Christopher Lloyd as the villain – he was absolutely brilliant.
Okay, I have to admit that The Voyage Home is probably the most lighthearted movie out of all five, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. A time-traveling adventure with whales? Yes please! And who knew that Captain Kirk had such a knack for saving endangered species?
Last but certainly not least, we have The Final Frontier. This one may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but personally I think it gets way too much hate. It has one of my favorite villains from the series (Sybok) and we get to learn more about Spock’s backstory. Plus, there are some pretty hilarious moments throughout the film.
